In the green and beautiful Val Còlvera you can see some small villages that have managed to preserve and enhance a particular rural architecture; one of these is Poffabro , a splendid hamlet in the municipality of Frisanco, in the province of Pordenone, precisely in the area of the Carnic Prealps in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
Val Covera , where Poffabro is located, has been quite busy since Roman times when it was crossed, right at the foot of Mount Ràut, by the Via Julia Concordia heading towards the Alps.
The area shows traces of ancient settlements, but the first certain evidence refers to the archives of the bishop of Concordia which attest to its existence since at least the first half of the 1300s when the territory was governed by the Serenissima.
But there is also an arbitration ruling from 1339 which mentions “Prafabrorum”, the “meadow of the blacksmiths”, a part of which, precisely the “decimam de Pratum Fabri”, was donated as an inheritance by the lord of Maniago to his son, until 1810 year in which Poffabro, with a Napoleonic decree, became a hamlet of Frisanco.
Listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy in 2002, Poffabro is a small country village characterized by the simplicity and genuineness typical of the inhabitants of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
